Yeah, Resh forwarded the FTJ announcement to me this AM; I just don't get what's happening with the music industry today. With some of the crap I hear being played daily, why can't bands with true talent and heart make it??? BREAKS MY HEART!!!!! Anyway, just wanted to let all my email pals out there know that I'm not using AOL anymore, so you can reach me at SweetT219@hotmail.com or tgoode@shamrockenviro.com Most everyone has these addresses already, but the AOL address will be officially gone as of 2/24.

One small correction to those Amos' directions. After you make the right on Bland Street (as if you were going to Jillians), take a left on Tryon. Amos' is two buildings down on your left. It is behind Jillians (and next to The Gin Mill) but the buildings aren't connected - there is an alleyway between them.Make sure you get there early for the opening band, Backyard Green. Great stuff and, for those of you Melonheads who are also Clemson alums, so are all five members of ByG!

Directions to Amos' Southend from Winston Salem - take I-85 toward Charlotte to I-77 South. Once on I-77 South, go a few miles and get on John Belk Freeway (exit 9 B, I think....either B or C).Go about 1-2 miles and take the South Blvd. exit. Directly off the exit (within a 1/2 mile) is Jillian's on the right (Bland Street). Amos' Southend is directly behind Jillian's.The buildings are connected, I think.I have a question for someone out there - are the BankWalkers playing that show acoustic or electric? Thanks. See you guys there.

Hey Sarah! Moral support you need??? Moral support I will give. The most important thing to remember is to stop by the ABC store on your way into the big town of Cullowhee! NEVER GET SNOWED IN WITHOUT JIM, JACK, JOHNNY & EVAN! You'll pull through like a champ if you always follow that golden rule! I hope to get up that way in the next month or so. Maybe we could meet at Grandma's for a late breakfast! I'll keep you posted! Had fun at the PourHouse last night even if it did land me face first in the toilet and in bed ALL day! Happy Christmas, everyone! My photo albums are still up, and anyone in the Raleigh area looking for used Cravin' Melon music might try the Record Exchange on Hillsborough St. for a used copy of Red Clay Harvest, and Schoolkids also on Hillsborough St. had a used copy of Squeeze Me. The Record Exchange in Mission Valley had Where I Wanna Be, too. They only had one of each used when I was in Wed. night, so they may be gone already, but it's worth a look if you're trying to find those cds.

Hey Jeff -- Email me and let me know what songs you're interested in. My brother and I can tab out a dozen or so Melon songs. I know the solos pretty close as well. When you see the tabs, you'll notice they are amazingly simple, but Jimbo arranges everything with genious. Focus on keeping the melody and making use of open notes. Jimbo is a master of "the right note at the right time" and does not waste anything. In many ways this is harder to do than just mindlessly wanking away some chops on your guitar. But it takes a long time to write a tab, so I can only do a couple. Choose wisely young Jedi!

I'll give my review of the latest live CD... it's awesome. The first track (Camelot) started with a little echo, but otherwise, it's a great recording considering the sound at the Cradle isn't always so good. The crowd is enthusiastic and the boys feed off them (and each other) really well. Yeah, Rob was a bit potty-mouth (ok a LOT potty-mouth), but I guess Head Melon edited out all the rated-R stuff. I'm soooooo happy that Doug is caught on tape praising the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. The "banter" is classic Melon and the "Jesse's Girl" cover is sure to make any music fan's skin crawl (Oh my GOD Double-G!). Do, Dave, & Amy of the Maryland crew and I flew into RDU for a surprise weekend back last February and we never once were sorry for spending the $$. The Cradle is the 1st place I saw Cravin' Melon... my neighbor & I walked 3 miles to the show in 1996 b/c we didn't have cars... I just HAD to be there for the last show in Chapel Thrill! Turtle, thanks for the phone call... it's always great to hear your voice. Rock, we will catch up soon. It's so nice to see everyone back in the 'patch. I was just thinking back to my road trip to Philly last Christmas... hard to believe it's only been a year... seems like so much has happened since then. I want y'all to know that I miss everyone... HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Write soon. Hugs, Melons & Darlings, Doc :)

Hey Melonheads! If any of y'all love Parklife as much as I do, you'll be interested to know that they are playing in Raleigh next week. Monday night at Lincoln Theatre is the time and place. They are part of a local music showcase that's happening Monday and Tuesday nights. Also on Monday night are some other favs of the Melon crowd: Weekend Excursion, Rev D, and Far Too Jones are also playing that night. Should be a great night of music. Can't wait to hear Parklife. Everyone should come out to the Bank Walkers show on December 5th at the Russell House Ballroom on the University of South Carolina campus in Columbia, SC. Right now ticket prices are $5 for students and $7 for non-students, but we're expecting to just make it a free show instead, that way more people will come out. Bolt, a local Columbia band, will be opening, then Bank Walkers will play a 45 minute set, and then Big Sky will headline the show with a 90 minute setlist. I'm the Assistant Concert Commissioner for Carolina Productions at USC, and we would love to see all you former Cravin' Melon fans, and fans of Bank Walkers to come out and support the band, and live music in Columbia. Take care.

Saw the BankWalkers in Charlotte last week and really enjoyed the show. However, I think it is time Cravin Melon starts putting together a series of reunion shows. The turnout would be great, the guys would make a little money, and a great time would be had by all. Let's get this thing going!!

Hey y'all... Sorry I've been out of touch, but with recent events it's been hard to get phone lines... and our computer server was located downtown, so it's out of commission for a while... So far everyone close to me is alright... I had a few big scares, but we're all ok. My sister is missing a friend, a former co-worker is missing her fiance and many of my students are missing family. One of my cousins who works for FDNY is luckily assigned to the Bronx and was a late arriver to the scene - THANK GOD! It's weird to look out and see a big hole in our skyline. A dust cloud still fills the area. Thursday the wind shifted and the smell was unbearable. I keep finding myself at a loss for words. We all feel lucky, but then sad for everyone else. New Yorkers tend to get a bad rap... I think those of you who know me realize that we're mostly loving, caring, dynamic people. If anyone can step up to this challenge, we can. We're grateful for all the support coming in from all over the country... from millionaires to friends like Parklife and Revelation Darling donating proceeds from their show! Many of the Pat McGee Band fans are college students who have been donating blood... But mostly, we're thankful for your prayers. Our entire country needs them right now. Thank you Terri for telling everyone that I'm ok... a little part of me isn't ok... there's a big hole where two large buildings used to be.......... I'll be writing an essay soon and I'll send the link to the Melonpatch when it's complete. I love and miss everyone! Hugs, Amy :(fan

I am a firefighter/EMT-B. I am devastated by the actions of"terrorism". I am suggesting that Cravin' Melon get back together forone night and put on a benefit concert. They draw a great crowd and themoney could go toward the relief effort or put toward the firefightersmemorial fund. This would be for a great cause and great time for all Melon fans tocome together. Saturday night in High Point was a welcomed distraction from thegoings-on around the county. All in attendance at the BW show seemed toget lost in the fun as time just whisked by. I don't know about therest of the attendees, but this Captain surely and sorely needed thecomfort of friends and 'Melon family (as well as actual family as theCaptain's little brother was there) to pull away from MSNBC (AshleighBanfield!!!) and their coverage of the terrorist attacks. I was sitting here thinking about how much fun the concert was last Friday night, and how I would give anything to turn the clock back so that I could see Cravin Melon play one more time-too bad I'm 19 and couldn't get into their final concert! lol. I still vividly remember seeing them perform at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach about three summers ago. I had more fun at that concert than any I had ever been to! I can close my eyes and still picture Doug singing, "Sweet Tea" -those are the kind of fond summer memories every teenager should have! I still remember Doug asking the crowd if they're were any Clemson fans out there, and I wildly shouted because I knew that I wanted to go there. So, here I am 3 years later-now a sophomore at the best college in the world! It makes me sad to think that Cravin Melon will no longer be performing, because I feel like CM was a part of my happy, care-free high school memories, and that part of my life is over. I know that things change, and life goes on-but I will always remember Cravin Melon summers! I would like to thank Doug for two things: First, for singing my three favorite songs- "Sweet Tea", "Come Undone", and "Silk Sunflowers", and secondly-for making the concert at the Handlebar absolutely unforgettable when you kept pointing to me and winking-lol! Who knows, you could have been singing to some other blonde Clemson chick-but I'd rather fondly reminisce back on that last concert and think that you sang my favorite songs to me! Thank you,Leanne

The only thing you have todo is go to their website and click a button. You don't have to give yourname or email address, and it doesn't cost you a thing. Last night in Raleigh were two awesome performances by former Melon bandmates and also a really nice distraction from the rest of this week's events. Parklife was absolutely amazing at the Pour House. Their songwriting is simply amazing. Great songs, great playing, and hopefully big success in the future. The Bank Walkers were equally amazing. I gotta give props for bringing out extra Melon songs like Oz and Come Undone. That was amazing. Anyone who hasn't gotten a chance to go out and see these guys should do so soon if you want to see a real display of musicianship. It was also great seeing all the Melon extended family. Dick, great to see you, I'll pay up for that dinner at Luna when Coach K has a losing season. Kevin

A testamonial from the Captain: For anyone who may have consideredchecking out the latest Tim/Doug/Jimbo/Chad project, but couldn't quitepush themselves to do so, I have to say JUST DO IT! I have NEVER beenone to say that the end of the 'Melon was right, well-timed, or anythingelse positive...but then again, I've never walked in any of their shoesin order to make that kind of judgement. With that in mind, I gave thenew project a listen...then, I did it again...and again. I like it.It's kinda like that proverbial gal who got away...she may be impossibleto replace, but that doesn't mean that her sister isn't a viablealternative! Bad analogy, but you get the point. Helllo melon fans!? I just wanted to let those people know, who are interested, the situation here. Jimbo and I are playing, but we are playing with our friend, Tim White. We have had a problem with clubs billing the show as Cravin' Melon, but we actually only do 3 or 4 Cravin' songs. Maybe if you would come out and check out one of our shows you could see what we are trying to do. Also, we didn't quit Cravin' because we didn't want to play; we quit because we were not making any money. If I'm playing, then obviously I'm making some money. as for thye clubs billing the show as Cravin'; we've been bitching at them for that, but they are going to do whatever they feel will get more people to the show. We haven't had any complaints from any fans who have taken the time to come see us, so give it a shot. t's different and it's fun for us!....singing melon

I would like to take a moment to Thank you guys for all that you havedone. You have done more than realize. My husband has been a policeofficer for 17 years and is now unable to work due to post traumaticstress disorder and he very seldom leaves the house. I am 30 years oldand I have enjoyed your music for years and when I heard that ya'll werehaving a cd release concert at the Handlebar in Greenville I asked himto come along. Tim is 40 yrs. old and the only song that he had heardwas "Silk Sunflower". We live approx. 45 minutes from there and heasked me to turn around several times since he can no longer deal withcrowds but I refused. He even got a little angry with me but after theconcert started he started calming down. We were at the stage and Iactually noticed him enjoying himself. Thank you so much for all thehard work and wonderful sound. We bought a cd and now he listens to itover and over. Tim still does not get out much but he did say that ifya'll get the chance to have another concert that he would love to bethere. That was a big step for him to take especially in hiscondition. It really broke our hearts that the group would no longer betogether. Would you please keep us updated. Sincerely, LeslieHayesP.S. Excuse me, but could the first post be a bit about "Where are they now?" There was talk some time ago about changing it, but it did not get done. Guess everyone has a new life... hey everyone! been way too busy since my last road trip... drove to virginia with cynde to see pat mcgee band and sister hazel on 7/5... how sweet was it when DOUG JONES came out to sing "all for you" with SH?! 7000 screaming fans (sigh) - do, dave, amy, michael, cynde and our crews were jumping up and down like the crazy melonseeds we are, but it was just a tad bittersweet when we were all wishing jimbo was to his left and rob to his right, with gary and chad there (sigh again). so great to see/hear you doug (and maryland crew - i MISS y'all so much!!). i got to party with kim in nyc last weekend - awesomeness, as always, rock... looking forward to your return - turtle & jersey have to join so we can have a real reunion. hope the jello shooters are being THROWN DOWN at the good ol' travelodge as i'm typing this. BTW, the nymelonseeds website is finally OFF SUSPENSION! nothing like doc getting herself suspended... LOL! visit the picture pages and sign my guestbook to let me know how thankful you are for its return... oh, and if anyone's interested, send me a hella kewl picture of yourself (+/- any melons or seeds) and i'll get a melonpatch bio page together... check out http://members.home.net/identities/ for one the PMB gang is making. also, for some deep thoughts, visit my friend lizard at http://www.evor.com/sundaythoughts.html OK, gotta shibby - hugs and melons!! amy (nymelonseeds@hotmail.com)

A few name ideas from the Captain? "Cravin' Random Accoustic VersionsIn New Melonesque Environments Locally Or Nationally" is my firstchoice, and it makes quite an acronym! If the guys keep the accoustictheme, how 'bout "Accoustically Correct"? If you wanna use my friends'almost redneck version of the group, the name could be either "Doug &'em", "Jimbo & 'em" or "Tim & 'em". I guess it really doesn'tmatter--melons by any other name would still taste as sweet (that's apun on the melon euphemism, not the guys!)... --The Captain

Cravin' Melon, Management of, People associated with... Thanks to all of you for adding southern flair, good music, awesome attitudes and a love for the job to a sometimes struggling profession. I am the drummer for Stall42 and one of my fondest memories was at the beginning of my bands career, when we played side stage to you at the ATTIC in Greenville, NC in 1998. The crowd was awesome, the atmosphere was unbelievable and the night proved to be what rock and roller's dreams are made of. You all gave it one hell of a go and definitely made a lot of people happy along the way. More bands with people like you is what we desperately need in the music business. I'm sorry to see such a credit to the industry retire, but most importantly I am glad you all accomplished so much. Your CD's stay in rotation in my "neck of the woods" and you will always be talked about as inspiration to my dreams. A sad heart makes me say goodbye, but a dream makes you live on in the "business". To great musicians, wonderful management, awesome crew members, damn good music and unbeatable friends...... Goodbye. You will be missed !! Remembering you always. Kevin Hansford (drummer) and the guys from Stall42

Thank you- The spirit of the melon will always party on... I want the band to know that their music has spread even to the Midwest. The drive from Ohio to Greenville for the last show was well worth it. Like many others I do not want it to end and would love any more melon memorabilia, especially any live music CD's, Video, etc... So please if anyone would be willing to make copies of existing CD's, Videos, Etc.. it would be greatly appreciated. Also since I am far from the heart of music here in Ohio a posting of any dates that x-melon members will be playing would be wonderful. Thank you... Rich bingrr@yahoo.com

It must have been all that practice I gotdown in Charleston! )LOL Hey Rock, if you are referring to July 4th,unfortunately I won't be in Beantown that day, b/c I will be ripping apartthe Big Apple with Doc! ( can't wait Amy) But if you want to make it August4th, then that's not a problem! LOL But I'm sure we will meet up someday! (didn't you know I travel down south ALOT?!?!?) Christy, great to hear from you! Glad to hear all is well in Jersey! Cynde, judging from the late night call, you and Doc had a blast in Boston. Any chance you'll be in the city to meet up with me on the 4th? Just 15 days till I hit the big apple! Doc, I'm still working on my saunter...I'll get it right yet. I keep forgetting to point my toes! And last, but not least, I owe Turtle a public apology... Since the local TV station wouldn't film me, the patch will have to do. Turtle, I'm sorry I thought you wanted to display plastic PINK FLAMINGOS on our front porch. I know you have better taste than that and I'm sorry for ruffling your feathers or better yet, putting a dent in your shell with my hateful remarks. I'd like to give props to my neighbor for killing the bug I trapped in my bathroom for a few days. Turtle, bugs are your job! Rock

HAPPY WORLD SAUNTERING DAY!! June 19th!! A day to revive the lost art of Victorian sauntering and to discourage jogging, lollygagging, sashaying, fast-walking, and trotting... I swear! Take some time today to SAUNTER... Melon-style! Peace out... - Doc ;) (nymelonseeds@hotmail.com)

Ihave to agree, Ms. Katy Swain did not take good notes, or did she even take notes at all?! I just for the life of me can't see Doug Jones in competition with Britany Spears and the Backstreet Boys!!!!!! Let's all write her and tell her this (go to the website and write her!) Jessica

Cynde - had a Melon-style BLAST with you in Beantown Friday night... as always, WTFAW?! Too bad Tat2Dave had to work and couldn't come out and play.
