It's with a heavy heart that i have to be the bearer of sad news for all you melonfans. For the past two years, the band has struggled to maintain our fan base and touring and recording profile. Without the support of a major label promotion and touring financial advantages, it has become a diminshing scenario for Cravin' Melon. Doug has decided that it's time to hang up the hat and pursue other things. That being said, the band has decided that without Doug, it just wouldn't be Cravin' Melon. Therefore we are annoucing the band's retirement effective Mid April. We are going to try to hit every market that we can between now and April 15, so keep and eye on the Dates Page of the website and come on out to bid the band farewell. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of our fans throughout the world, from the bottom of our hearts. It was you, the fans that kept us going over the years. We'd also like to thank Scotty and Keith, the the street team, and all of the family members that have supported us over the past 8 years. We had a good run at it, we made a lot of folks happy and we had some great shows along the way. We're sorry to see it come to a close, but that's where we are. Cravin's music has touched a lot of folks. Let's remember all the good times fondly, play the CDS and be thankful we had a chance to do this.

unc was a HUGE disappointment today. I'll admit they were just sorry. They beat themselves. Penn St. didn't really have much to do with it. They just happened to be the lucky team playing UNC today. I'm saddened but I'll get over it. Congrats to Hodg, JDog and all the other dukies in the Patch. At least now you don't have to worry about facing UNC for the championship. First of all, I want to say how unfair it is that Cravin is going to be in Mooresville..oh, only about 30 minutes from my house, the one weekend i'm going to be OUT of TOWN! oh well...at least i'll definitely be making a few more shows before the unfortunate end. anyway, i just finished working my butt off getting a whole new Melon page on my website, complete with a good article from the Charlotte Observer from when they played at Amos' last month..anyway, i've also got about 45 pictures (or more) up now, from the years that i've been seeing the band. check out my site. its my way of saying Cravin' Melon will be missed...

Melon may not be listed on the artist's list page, but look on the stage listings. They are listed on the alternative rock/Coors Light stage for Saturday from 7:45-8:45. However, keep checking closer to day of show.....they keep changing the times.

Logan, it may not be you. Could simply be your modem & connection speed.....that coupled w/net traffic can often cause that "skipping" problem. Hope this helps.

Well I've been putting this off all day but I guess it's time to give it up for the Dukies around here. UNC just plain sucked yesterday, there's no way we can turn the ball over that many times and expect to win, especially against Duke. But, we may still be game for the tourney. And on a CM note, I've been enjoying the hell out of those demos and live cuts that Keith G. has putting up. Those types of things are priceless--keep putting them up there Keith! OK Head Melon I need some answers. On the dates it says April 12 alive after five. I asked you about this once before and you said look at Lincoln Theater. Well according to Weekend Excursion's dates and the Lincoln Theater the guys would be going on at 9pm. I just got off the phone with Alive after five and the guys would be playing outside at 6pm (which is a free concert). So does that mean they will be doing two shows that day or what? Well, all I can do is say that Duke thoroughly schooled UNC today. They truly showed some might today. Hats off. UNC has a penchant for letting Duke take them out of their half court game. Mixmaster Keith -- Dude, thanks for putting up those demos and the live "Faithless" on your website. They are awesome. "The Longer I stay" is an awesome song. I'm continually amazed by the clever songwriting in this band. That song has got some Keith Richards and the Stones all over it. I love it. This one definitely has to be from the TGP sessions right? "Please Forgive Me" is amazing. I have always thought that at times Doug has a voice very similar to the 1950's Elvis. Just listen to this song and tell me that's not true. What does everyone else think? This is an amazing vocal performance, Doug. It sounds like it was done during the "Where I Wanna Be Album", no? And if the live Faithless is any hint of what might be on this proposed live CD, then we're in for a real treat.

FYI Head Melon - in the 6 years I spent at Carolina ('93-'99), Dook might have beaten us twice... and I don't think they even won that many against us. Maybe the last 2 years or so have been less successful, but check out the overall record and then start talking smack... Love ya... mean it! :)

Head Melon why are you worried about boozer so much? As long a coach K is on the sidelines you could play for Dook and they would win. He out coached and confused Doherty the whole game. Wish you could have joined us Christy... next time. Everyone should check out Darius' solo album when it comes out... I think it's going to be something special (and that's a rave, since I'm not really into Hootie & TBF). I suppose it's time to give credit where credit is due to all you Dook fans around here. They played a great game and their defense was just sick. Doherty was trying some weird strategies at key spots in the game as well. But like my bro said, it will be H. Melon's turn to kiss some ass come next Sunday! About the show in Raleigh last night--absolutely the MOST SPECIAL SHOW I have ever seen. That was one for the history books for sure--it just doesn't seem right or even fair (I guess from a fan's own selfish standpoint and the band's standpoint) that something like what happened last night has to end. Hey guys, the Charlotte show was awesome. I was in Hickory for the weekend, and just got back to Asheville, so now's the first chance I've had to say something about it. I loved the covers, none of them could have been any better. Only at a Cravin' show can you hear songs from Garth Brooks, Steve Miller Band, Skynyrd, AC/DC, Bob Marley, and the best of all, Cravin' Melon. I'm hoping to be able to make an appearance at the House of Blues, and most definitely the last show in Asheville. It sucks that you guys just keep gettin' better and better knowing that it's going to end soon, but thanks again for doing it while you can. No woman, no cry!!!

I can't say how blown away I was by the show in Raleigh last night. Those of you that missed it really missed something special. The Lincoln Theatre was packed and the guys put on THE MOST blazing set I've ever seen. And that covers a lot of shows. The crowd was so engaged with every song they played. It was amazing, but not surprising. Seeing what took place last night just makes the break up that much sadder. But we can be thankful for these shows we're getting. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this farewell tour has produced the best series of consecutive shows I've ever seen. Cravin Melon is truly going out in style. It was also great seeing Runaway Cab, Weekend Excursion, and FTJ on stage for the finale. These are three bands people could really latch onto in the post-Cravin Melon era.

Jenn, I harbor no hard feelings toward Head Melon, J-Dog, and the rest of the Duke faithful. I was just participating in some playful ribbing. My reason for hoping the Deacs win the ACC tourney is that I think WFU is on the other side of the proverbial bubble. UNC, Duke, MD, and VA are inked in the NCAA field of 64...Wake needs a miracle. On the more important side of things, am I out of line in hoping that the final 'Melon show will be an unforgettably long, power packed, physically draining show?
