It's with a heavy heart that i have to be the bearer of sad news for all you melonfans. For the past two years, the band has struggled to maintain our fan base and touring and recording profile. Without the support of a major label promotion and touring financial advantages, it has become a diminshing scenario for Cravin' Melon. Doug has decided that it's time to hang up the hat and pursue other things. That being said, the band has decided that without Doug, it just wouldn't be Cravin' Melon. Therefore we are annoucing the band's retirement effective Mid April. We are going to try to hit every market that we can between now and April 15, so keep and eye on the Dates Page of the website and come on out to bid the band farewell. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of our fans throughout the world, from the bottom of our hearts. It was you, the fans that kept us going over the years. We'd also like to thank Scotty and Keith, the the street team, and all of the family members that have supported us over the past 8 years. We had a good run at it, we made a lot of folks happy and we had some great shows along the way. We're sorry to see it come to a close, but that's where we are. Cravin's music has touched a lot of folks. Let's remember all the good times fondly, play the CDS and be thankful we had a chance to do this.

Here's an interesting tidbit for Melon fans. I was at the Carolina Coffee
Shop in Chapel Hill last night and a neat little cover band was playing.
With Cravin Melon being the legends they are, this band rightfully played a
cover of "Blossom". It was an interesting take on the song, but it was very
cool to hear another up-and-coming band pay homage to the Great Melon. --

OK, I posted yesterday, but it didn't make it to the book, so I'll try again. Turtle, can't wait til you get to Raleigh!!! Celebration at Jillian's with the first round of "Snapping Turtle's" on me :) There, that's what I posted yesterday; now for today - Cara and I decided to have a girlie day by the pool since Rob has gone camping with his dad and the kids are elsewhere. Right now we're taking a break, but we've been floating all day drinking pina coladas, bay breezes and watermelon jello shots listening to 6 CDs playing random Melon, James Taylor, Chairmen of the Board, Next Move and Clarence Carter. Go figure, her CD randomly plays Melon every other song, so we're drinking, floating and singing to the top of our lungs like 2 crazy women. Feeling a little happy at the moment and wanted to share (ohhhhhhhh now we're listing to Swagger and Sway - JIMBO I love this song!!!!!!!!!!) Anyway, we miss everyone and can't wait til the 30th to see the show at Amos'. Take care - we love you. We're Swaggering and Swaggering; Swaggering and Swaying - Oooo Oooo Oooo :*

Turtle, come home! Looks like I'm gonna be throwing a little (or LARGE)
welcome home party for Turtle. Any chance of CM getting together for some
tunes in the courtyard? My neighbors are kind of getting used to loud
music...they wouldn't mind. Doc, I'll wait till August if you're coming
down for that wedding! Watch out Raleigh! If anyone sees a liver on ebay,
could you bid on it for me? Now that Turtle's gonna be local, this could

WHAT A WEEKEND!!!!! Friday: Park Life/Honey Soul, which ever you're actually
going by (since you've been billed as both) - Rob, it was an amazing show
and I can't wait to hear more. It was also great hearing Rev D again (Alex,
if you're reading, I like the little "sway" thing you've added). Saturday:
Tim, Jimbo and Doug - indescribable!!! I had a great time at Jillian's.
Resh, NEVER ASSUME :) I had a blast seeing the old gang (Rob & Cara, Debbie,
Tommy and Julie, Amy) - you guys were missed) and finally officially meeting
Rock, Turtle, Meredith and Steph (hope you didn't wind up in Wyoming).
Grabbing bachelor butts and downing "Snapping Turtle" a.k.a. Red Snapper
shots with you guys on top of dancing at the Groove Shak and Sex On The
Beach with the Capt ;) Can't wait til Charlotte on the 30th!!!!! As for DC

Tony...the bachelor's name was Tony. He works in radio...yes, always
thinking, I did put in a few plugs. Saturday was a great time, it was so
good to meet new friends, as well as, see familiar faces. All my melon
friends are always welcome in Founders Row...since we got four in my bed
this time, there was still the guest bed and the couch. There is always
room for a few more friends! AC is getting fixed tomorrow. Doc, we DID
miss you! I'm so glad Turtle kept you on the horn via cell phone. Sorry we
kept you up, my neighbors had a sleepless night themselves. No eviction
notice yet, it helps that the landlord (and taxi driver) were partying with
us till the sun came up. Glad you all made it home safely...Buster and I
miss you, please come back soon. Turtle, my new roommate? God help us all!
Doug, Tim, Jimbo the show was a treat. Thanks for hitting the road and
sharing your songs.

It was great seeing everyone again (Captain, Brooke, Bonnie, Keith, Kevin, Terri, Kim, Reshjena --ooooo, say it again, Mixmaster, et al) and great to finally meet Turtle and Meredith. You girls are crazy!
Doug, Jimbo & Tim: you guys sounded amazing and it was wonderful seeing y'all again. Can't wait for the next show.
BTW, Resh, I'm SO sorry we didn't make the trip to DC this time, but I'm sure we'll have another opportunity. Heck, maybe we'll even get lucky enough to see the Washington Monument next time. ;)

If I had thought that someone would be throwing my water bottle at me in the
dark in the middle of the night, I would have screwed the lid tight. I
learned my lesson the wet way! What a crazy night -- jello shots, wet
spots, butt-grabbing, Groove Shack, 5am karaoke, and oh yeah, three guys
playing sweet music under the southern skies -- does it get any better than
that?? I don't think so... Guess I didn't have to worry about finding
reasons to road-trip after the final shows 'cause three weeks later I was
traveling for the Melon again. Doug, Jimbo & Tim -- awesome show,
particularly Uncle John's Band and Sweet Melissa. Please keep making the
rounds so we can all come out again. We'll even work on our singing. Rock,
like the Captain said, you were a fabulous chef & hostess (when can I come
back?) and Turtle & Captain, talk about strange bedfellows... kidding!!! It
was great seeing familiar faces (Dick, Rob & Mixmaster) and meeting everyone
(Terri, Reshjena, Iris, Keith & Kevin) at Jillian's. Hope to see y'all

checked the lid OR better yet if Meredith had just screwed it on tighter

Well, tha statement "the party never ends" was proven true this weekend!
There's nothing better than going to bed at 6:00AM and then driving 6 hours
the next day! It was worth it and we learned that YOU CAN fit 4 people in a
waterbed and sleep comfortably even when someone makes a wet spot with their
water bottle! Thanks to Doug, Jimbo & Tim for putting up w/ us and not
having us evisted from Jillian's! Rock- Love my turtle pillow and looking
forward to moving in soon, even though you don't believe me! Meredith- You

was a pleasure and I'm glad you liked my little song! SweetT Terri- You can
be my shot partner anytime! You are officially a champ! You too Jimbo!!
Captain- You've left me speechless. I think you singing "Please Forgive Me"
is what did it! Keith & Kevin- Enjoyed chatting w/ you! Hope to see you
soon, even though you think I'm nuts! Reshjena- you grabbed the bachelor's
butt! Forget his name, but they were hialrious and brought lots of laughter
to Jillian's! Iris- You crack me up w/ your comments! Keep em' up! And to
the one Wingman that made it out from Mebane, you rock! So, who wants to go

Jimbo, Doug, and Tim put on a great show as an acoustic three piece. Their
show at Jillians was an exhibition of bare-bones musicianship. Sweet Tea
was awesome as well as the Tom Petty cover. I highly recommend that anyone
who likes acoustic music to go see them. They are great. It's also a good
opportunity for any of us rank amateur guitar players to study and learn :-)

Who wants to bet that Saturday's "little" acoustic show at Jillians will be
one of the biggest draws they've ever had for an acoustic set? I'd put
money on it. People usually don't go to Jillians just to see the live
music, but this time around it looks like there will be lots of people there
for that express purpose. Can't wait to see Rob's band on Friday. All the
Raleigh Melonheads should turn out for that one too. -- Kevin

a great weekend w/ Rev D and now if I read this right (it's early for me
this morning), a little surprise @ Jillian's w/ Doug, Jimbo & Tim! WOW!
So, to Melongoeson4ever: I think you should come to Raleigh, join our party
w/ Rev D then we'll call you in sick/missing/dead whatever and you can stay
for the party Sat. @ Jillian's! To my knight in shining armour, you better
show up (you know who you are)!! I would also like to publically invite
"secret one" and all his wingmen! Okay, so more great news: Us southerners
are officially heading north! That's right, we're going to Fish House!
Looking forward to seeing Christy, Tat2Dave, Pam & Mike, Doc and all the
other surprise guests! If anyone decides to go and needs a room to share,
we have a lovely room w/ no view, no balcony and maybe, just maybe they'll
decide to give us running water, if not, we got the ocean! So, anyone out
there interested in joining us e-mail me for info! Hope everyone has a
happy day! TURTLE turtledupree@hotmail.com

Ok, I have the 8th off so I find myself asking the question ... Do I go to Raleigh on June 8th to see Parklife with Rev D, or to Ziggy's by the Sea to see Tim, Jimbo, and Doug? This decision is sooo unfair! : ( I never thought I'd have to choose between them. Somebody help me!

I heard "Drift Away" on the radio today and thought of Cravin' Melon. I had the privilege of hearing them sing it with Weekend Excursion a few weeks back. The lyrics really touch home. "Day after day I'm more confused, And I look for the light through the pouring rain, You know that's a game that I hate to lose, And I'm feeling the strain, Ain't it a shame, Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll And drift away, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll, And drift away, Beginning to think that I'm wasting time, I don't understand the things I do, The world outside looks so unkind,Now I'm counting on you To carry me through, Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul ... And when my mind is free, You know a melody can move me, And when I'm feeling blue, Guitar's coming through to soothe me, THANKS FOR THE JOY THAT YOU'VE GIVEN ME, I want you to know I BELIEVE in your song, Rythmn and rhyme and harmony, YOU'VE HELPED ME ALONG, Making me strong, Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll And drift away, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll, And drift away!" Thank you Cravin' Melon for everything you don't know you've done for me! I love you!

Great site, Doug! Hope you're doin' well. Things in Charlotte are great. Tried to catch you show last time you were in town but our sitter fell through.
By the way, I've shared Sweet Tea with the Northeast. They don't appreciate the god given pleasure, but they like the music.

Recovering from a night out with the bachelor party... that's right, I met
up with the CT boys in NYC last night! Nothing like a cute Northernseed to
liven up a party. ;) Turtle & Rock - Gouda is forgiven, but only because
he bought me flowers on 1st Avenue at 4 am... he still has plenty to learn
about playing nice with Doc. Y'all can still visit my page and boost my

Doc, I'm scanning some pictures this weekend to add to your page (which
looks awesome, thanks for all your hard work, I love reminiscing). I have
the Captain in Turtle's floral shower cap and a couple of other great shots!
Love the crazy picture of you, I have one very similar, don't I Turtle?
Mooresville...Images Night Life! Gouda, forget about the sentences, I say
we hit him on the knuckles with a ruler or something. The kid has got to
learn! Turtle, see you in six days! Be ready! If Dawg can't handle the
truth, leave him at home! Abdule is thrilled you're coming. He wrote on
his calendar last night, "June 8th, Jenn in the house!" For any one
interested...I'm having a small throw down at my house on the 8th to welcome
Turtle back to Raleigh, then we're going to walk over to the PourHouse to
check out RevD. The more the merrier, jello shots for everyone. Email me

THANK YOU TURTLE & MISS JULY!! Captain, there are pictures of you! I've
also included some of the "Sights of SC" including the Casket & Garmets shop

me say this... if Gouda even THINKS he's getting his souvenier t-shirt from
me without a PUBLIC MELONPATCH APOLOGY, well, that piece of cheese has
another thing coming! [insert angry face here >:( ] Lay down the crack
pipe my brother and cross the bridge already! (Turtle, I think he needs to
write at least 200 sentences since this is a second offense... he is SO not
worthy.) Please, everyone, visit my photo page and sign my guestbook... and
be sure to include reasons why YOU wouldn't pull a Gouda and stand me up
(Capt, no need to respond - I already know your answer)... Anyway, Doc needs
an ego boost, so humor me and leave a note. :\ Hugs and Melons from the

Hey! Just thought everyone would be happy to hear my broken ankle bill is
finally paid off! Made the last payment today! Woo-Hoo! The only catch is
I'm still a bit off balance......hmmmm......too much Sweet Tea I reckon! Or
maybe it was the celebration party we had last night that made me say "OUCH"
this morning! Hey Rock-"and when we grow old I will find two chairs and set
them close each sun-lit day, that you and I, in quiet joy, may rock the
world away" thought this might cheer you up! Can't wait to see you on the
8th! Still trying to convince Dawg and his pound to join us for the
weekend, but I'm thinking he's too attached to his kennel to run with us!
Doc- glad the mailman could deliver the goods! Gouda- if you don't show up
& play nicely w/ Doc then you're gonna have to stay inside and write 100
sentences saying "I will be nice to Doc and will always worship my sister
Turtle". Tat2Dave- thanks again for all your hard work and for all the Fish

love the e-mails. Keep em' coming! Captain- "the weather is here, wish you

To all of the melon family (and that means everyone!): I have so enjoyed
spending time with all of you (and getting to know you) through the four
years that I've been following the Melon... I've made some wonderful
friendships that will last a lifetime! And it's through following the band
that I've met Bill... my soon to be husband! I can't believe I'll be married
in a week (and two days--but who's counting!) Guys, your music has been a
blessing... it has affected me in so many ways and it will stay with me
forever... I can't thank you enough for that... your music means so much to
me, it's hard to put all of this into words... I love you guys... and all of
the melon family! And I'm not saying goodbye, because I know I'll see you
around!~~~~~The show on the 20th was WONDERFUL! It was the best way to ring
in my birthday! (I couldn't think of a better way to spend it!--except of
course, for it not to be the last show--for a while--wink, wink) My aunt was
able to make it to the show, and I know she really enjoyed it... how could
she not? She was, after all, listening to the BEST BAND out there! Well, I
love you guys, hope to see you all soon... and... all I really have left to
say is: The road goes on forever and the party never ends! Love to all &

Nancy,
I have one picture from right as they start the final bow, and Doug has a
wonderful smile on his face. It's slightly blurry, because they were
starting to take the bow, but it's really good. I also have one from right
before that where they are hugging and Rob is crying, while he reaches up to
wipe away Doug's tears. Both are wonderful pictures, and you are welcome to
them if you'd like them. I don't have a scanner, but I can give them to
Doug at Amos' when he plays there next month. Iris also took a lot of
pictures for me on my camera from both nights, front row. If you'd like
copies, I'll be happy to give them to you.

Mother Melon, I have a picture of the guys with their arms around each other
right after the bow. It looks like Jimbo just said something because they
are all smiling and looking at him. It's clear, but...it's not the bow.
One other bad, I'm about 4 fours back so, there are a lot of arms in the
air. Email if you're interested in seeing it, I'll get it scanned today.

Here is my entry for the Melonpatch Guestbook
Date:
Wed, 30 May 2001 10:52:54 AM Eastern Daylight Time
From:
Cooper Cpl Brandon K
To:
"'melonheads@aol.com'"
I don't even know where to begin... first I'd like to say that the news of
the band breaking up was the worst news I got all year. I first saw Cravin'
Melon back in '97 at the House of Blues. Needless to say I was instantly
hooked. I have never in my life heard music that affected me as much as
Cravin' Melon's sweet southern tunes. And especially the song "Hey Sister"
which I would like to say, without going into a very long story, really
touched home and changed a few things in my life. Unfortunately, the last
time I got to see the band was the last time they played at Shooter's in
Florence. I only wish I had the means to bankroll the band myself. And
knowing that they couldn't get a major label really pisses me off. If I
turn on the radio one more time and hear some no talent flop like Macy Gray
or the Backstreet Girls one more time I will probably kick a very large hole
in my stereo. It just ain't right. Cravin' Melon is the quintessential
South Carolina band in my opinion and losing them will definately take away
a large part of my wonderful high school memories. Now we Melonheads can
only join hands across the great Palmetto State and hope that one shining
day there may be a reunion concert. Until then Doug, Jimbo, Rob, Chad, and
all the other folks who made this great band possible... I wish you luck
with whatever you do. I am not alone by saying that I will never forget you
guys...

I was sitting here thinking about how much fun the concert was last Friday
night, and how I would give anything to turn the clock back so that I could
see Cravin Melon play one more time-too bad I'm 19 and couldn't get into
their final concert! lol. I still vividly remember seeing them perform at
the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach about three summers ago. I had more fun
at that concert than any I had ever been to! I can close my eyes and still
picture Doug singing, "Sweet Tea" -those are the kind of fond summer
memories every teenager should have! I still remember Doug asking the crowd
if they're were any Clemson fans out there, and I wildly shouted because I
knew that I wanted to go there. So, here I am 3 years later-now a sophomore
at the best college in the world! It makes me sad to think that Cravin
Melon will no longer be performing, because I feel like CM was a part of my
happy, care-free high school memories, and that part of my life is over. I
know that things change, and life goes on-but I will always remember Cravin
Melon summers! I would like to thank Doug for two things: First, for
singing my three favorite songs- "Sweet Tea", "Come Undone", and "Silk
Sunflowers", and secondly-for making the concert at the Handlebar absolutely
unforgettable when you kept pointing to me and winking-lol! Who knows, you
could have been singing to some other blonde Clemson chick-but I'd rather
fondly reminisce back on that last concert and think that you sang my
favorite songs to me! Thank you,
Leanne

Bear with me ... I've got some random thoughts and questions ... There really IS a Sugartit, SC ... I found it thanks to the couple behind me at the last show ... Is there anyone out there who understands "Beautiful Thing"? ... If so, please explain! ... Would a Snuffalupagus (or however it's spelled) really fit on any landlord's nose? ... I haven't seen the Micro-Gerbil in a while ... or the hamster dance ... wouldn't Doug look cute doing the hamster dance? ... Where does Rob shop? That shirt he had on at the last show was groovy ... I wonder when I'll get to see Jimbo's red suede shoes again ... Doesn't JJ have the most adorable smile? ... I can't believe Cravin' Melon is over... At least all the guys are still in music ... I can't wait to see Jimbo, Tim, and Doug again ... Seven Bridges Road was fabulous at the Handlebar ... and Tim sings a great "Carolina In My Mind" ... Did anyone go to see Rev D with Chadley? ... Anyone have any good jokes? ... Does Gary like to say the word "Hootie" as much as David Letterman? ... Who got Rachel pregnant on Friends? ... My spell check doesn't like the word Jimbo ... Email is a great thing ... I put the kids down to sleep last night with their request of "Sweet Tea" ... yes, I cried ..

HELLO! I hate I missed the shows in Greenville, but I had sort of a tragedy I had to take care of. So what's the dilly with Rob taking over the web site? I'm looking forward to the reunion tour. And just to let you know if there isn't one soon I'm going to bug the hell out of yall and offer an obscene amount of money for ya to come play for me personally with a few friends......(Beer included) Now I know you could not pass that offer up.
Rob, Let me know how things are coming with a new group. Or whoever responds.
Love yall

A little Poetic Verse from the Captain: I know that I shall never see a
weekend so fun as our last 'Melon spree; a pair of nights filled with
music and songs, cold beer, shower caps and stringy thongs...a weekend
blessed with Doug, Jimbo, Rob, Gary and Chad...along with lots of 'Melon
guests--none who were bad...a weekend where "When Will I Be Loved" was
sung by Doug and his sisters, while J.J. again plucked the bass, which I
know caused him blisters...Melonheads convened from the North, South,
and West...and the ladies in attendance all had great big eyes(?)...yes,
the Melonville gathering was one event to remember, I'll try to wait
forever for the next one...just make it before September! --The Captain

Ok I have recovered some what :-) I would like to thank the Gary, Jimbo, Doug,
Rob, Chad, Keith and Scott for such a great ride. Too bad it had to end now all
we have to wait for is the reunion tour :-) hint hint. It was such a great
weekend partying with all the melons thanks to all of you for making this past
weekend a weekend never to forget. I will be working on the tapes this weekend
and will make them available to each and everyone of you. Of course that's after
I make the copies for the band first. Wait till you all see the Doug and Jimbo
cam :-) It was way to much fun making that tape thank you for not booting me off
the stage. But I said what the hell what were you going to do not let me go to
the next CM show hahahahahaha. Thanks again to everyone the sky's have been
crying since Sunday. I would also like to thank my girlfriend Beth (who couldn't
make it to SC :-( for being so sweet as to not getting jealous of me being in SC
hanging out with five young ladies Pam(mom), Christy, Amy, Kim and Jenn. She was
a bit jealous over Lewis though hahahahahahaha Thanks Lewis for a great weekend
as well you are the man :-) I know you are reading this Beth and thank you for
everything love ya. So keep you eyes open for the tapes, would everyone like
copies of the Ashville and Iron Horse shows as well? Thanks again to the Band
and the Fans for everything. Peace and have a Cravin filled day. I know I am
since I make a cassette tape of the last show last night (the sound came out
great) so I could listen to it at work :-) If I knew how to take it from tape to
my CD burner I would (I'm working on that)

I had a dream last night that I had to get on stage and sing Great
Procrastinator. Someone handed me a guitar, which I had no idea what to do
with, and I couldn't remember the opening line. Maybe that's a nightmare...
Anyway, Greenville was amazing. The two shows were completely different
and pulling out a few classic Cravin' tunes and a classic Melon was a real
treat. I'm trying to remember the last time I heard Got No Time live and I
think it was in 1996... And Seven Bridges Road and Road Goes on Forever --
if you have to make the live CD a 3-disc set to include everything, please
do. It will be treasured by all who were there (and those who couldn't make
it and wanted to). It was really special sharing the final shows with other
people who are going to miss the band as much as I am. As everyone has
said, it was also truly enjoyable putting faces with names, especially Dick
- thanks for chatting with us. This band and this music has meant so much
to me in so many different ways that I don't even know where to start. So I
won't. I'm tired of being sad so I'm just going to say Doug, Jimbo, Rob,
Gary, Chad, Keith and Scotty, please keep in touch and let us know what
you're up to. Sudden withdrawl for those of us who are addicted could be
detrimental to our health. Use the 'Patch to keep us up to date with your
endeavors and take the Melon mailing list with you to your new music
projects. You know I'll be there. And think "reunion tour". This may be
the End of the World as We Know It so we'll create a new world. 'Cause the
party never ends... Meredith from Richmond

I went to the Friday farewell show at the Handlebar and loved it very much.
I never wanted it to end! Thank you for entertaining us and I hope that you
do well in whatever your future holds!
I was wondering if there would be a CD from those last concerts. I would
really like to have a copy because it was a great show. I am very interested
in the "party goes on" song. How could I get a copy?

Well I guess it's time for to put my small imprint on the world of the
melons so here it goes. I am slowly recovering from a great (although
extremely sad) weekend. Each of you guys has touched my life in so many
different ways. Chad & Gary - for being the cute ones :) Rob - for the
Sailor Moon comments (damn T-shirt got me in more trouble than I ever
thought) Jimbo - for being the southern boy who we all know and love and
finally Doug - Oh what can you say about the singing melon, except BOY YOU
SPIT TOO MUCH!!!!! My love for each of you is special in it's own little way
but you can be sure it will remain always in my heart. You have meant so
much to me the past 6 years (yes since I was 15) and you will keep meaning
more to me everyday. You have introduced me to my new found love in music
and to great bands, like Rev D and Far Too Jones, that without you I would
not have even taken the time to obsess over now. Each of you are very
blessed and no matter what you go on to do I will be there supporting you
guys in every way possible. So that's about all for my little piece of the
pie... oh and Jimbo save me one of those farewell shirts!!! I love you guys
and will miss you greatly!

Hey guys - Just wanted to say thanks once again for all the great times over the past 2 1/2 years of my life. My only regret is that I didn't discover Cravin' Melon sooner. What a great final show as well. That was way cool of you guys to pull out a couple of the old songs. I had been dying to hear Peace of Mind live ever since I started going to your shows in the summer of '98 - that was always one of my favorite songs. Everybody did a great job and I will never forget the emotion and heart you guys put into the last show. Thanks again - see y'all around somewhere, sometime soon!

Hey guys! "Is everyone alright". We'll the 3 day hangover is finally wearing off. I'm starting to remember some of the events of the weekend. For starters we owe it all the the great guys in the band: Doug, Jimbo, Gary, Rob, and Chad for letting us share in the memories of the last 8 years. I've had so much fun over the years traveling to the shows, meeting all the guys in the band and many other great people along the way. This weekend was incredible. From popping the first cold one at 9:00 am on Friday morning to the last one at 4:00 Sat. night. I got to hangout with some really special people at the Travelodge and at the show that I will always remember. Amy and Leslie from Raleigh, WOW! what a great time we had. Thank goodness my wingman Jay kept me in line most of the time.( although I did lose him a few times ) Your fun-loving spirit really made this weekend special. Amy B. it was great to finally meet you. You were so nice and I really enjoyed hanging out with ya at the show and the hotel. Tat2Dave - had a blast. I do wish you would have kept the liquor hidden Fri. night. Jenn - Yes you do still owe me some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. But I'll forgive you. I think all the Mebane guys proved we could party with the "Big Dogs". Christy, Louis, Meredith - Thanks for hanging with us. Kim - I still have your picture as my screen saver. (just kidding). It was great meeting you. I'm sure I'm forgeting someone but I had a good reason. Back to the show! Sat. night was simply an awesome performance by the Melons. The crowd was loud and into every second of the show. There was so much emotion and energy in every person in the room it was really special. I'm optimistic the guys will get together at some point in the future for another show and I know every "Melonhead" will be there. Jimbo - thanks for the T-shirt. Doug - thanks for taking time out of every show to stop by and say Hey! It really meant a lot. Gary - I guess the free sandwiches will have to end. But if you e-mail me I might be able to work something out. Rob and Chad - I sincerely hope your next gig is as great as this one. I'll be watching what's next for you guys and will do everything I can to support you. It was a great ride. The road goes on forever and the party never ends. That says it all. Thanks

What an amazing weekend!! I have way too much to say, so stay tuned for the
revised "Northernseeds" website later this week for pix, road-trip diary and
stuff. For the 'patch, I'd just like to say this... there are very few
places in this world filled with love, peace and harmony, but the Melonpatch
is one of those places. There were many people at the shows this weekend
who aren't "regulars" (many were seeing CM for the 1st time!) and more than
a few couldn't get over how well all of us get along... that we're a big
happy Melonseed family! Christy, (Tat2)Dave & I are so glad we made the
long trip down to spend one last night with everyone... we love y'all!
Hello to the Travelodge gang (Bubba, Jay, Tim, Scott, Britt, Amy A, Leslie,
Louis, Jules, Rob & Cara, Head Melon and ROY), Kimmy, Kevin, Keith, Brooke,
Bonnie, Benjye, Myzze, Iris, Resh, Terri, Brendo & his mom, Bill & Tori,
Captain, Kristie, Angela, Steph & Duck, Christy & her mom, Logan & Chrissy,
Pam (MOM!) & Mike and all the rest of our wonderful friends who we were
blessed to share this weekend with. WE LOVE REVELATION DARLING and FAR TOO
JONES! You guys rock... and thanks Chris for mopping up the floor in Doug's
kitchen! Love to the Chapmans, the Joneses, Terina, Sheree (sp?), Jenn,
Keith, Scotty, Melongeek and Dick for welcoming us as their extended-family
and for sharing these 5 wonderful guys with us for so long. It was raining
when I left Greenville this morning... and raining in NY when the plane
landed... I think the world is crying... :( DOUG, JIMBO, ROB, CHAD & GARY -
Thanks for all the wonderful music & memories! I treasure you all... and
we'll see you for the reunion tour! ;) Until then, I hope everyone will
visit the 'patch often and stay in touch. PS - Tat2Dave is on the road
driving back to Mass... once he has some time to edit the videos, he'll let

Hello everyone; I hope we have all recovered nicely from the weekend. I just wanted to post this to tell everyone in the Melon family thank you for the last 8 years. What a wonderful end to a great ride. Thank you to those of you were able to make it to the crib, both before and after. I won't and I'm sure my neighbors definitely won't forget that one for a while. Also, thank you for all of the many gifts from our friends and fans. I gotta say that this weekend was "LARGE", but even more "LARGE" in my
heart! Words can't even begin to describe the awesome weekend that just
took place! It was an experience! I drove up into the TraveLodge to the
most beautiful sight: my melonpeeps were sippin' on Sweet T by the pool
with CM blaring from the speakers in the background! "Damn" I said to
myself, "it doesn't get any better than this". I enjoyed seeing all my
melon pals and finally meeting those of you who I'd only met by means of the
Patch! ROCK- I wuv you! Thanks for rolling over in bed and whispering the
cure to my migrain, "I-HOP, looking like @ss style" and thanks again for NOT
snoring! DOC- Thanks again for coordinating the lodge! Love my Chapel
Thrill turtle who sat on my dash and navigated me all the way back to ATL.
Can't wait to see you again soon! Love you LARGE! CHRISTY- Thanks for
cracking me up and for partying like a rock star w/ Turtle, Rock & Doc!
TAT2DAVE- You flat out, rock my world! Thanks for capturing everything on
video. I look forward to seeing it and the special poolside edition!
You're one of a kind and can't wait to see you in Sept! CAPTAIN- Oh
Captain, my sweet, sexy Captain! I gotta say, meeting you was definately
the most original of the weekend! Totally surprised me! Thanks for
accepting my shower cap and wearing it with pride for all the Lodge to see!
LEWIS- As always, it was damn good to see you and even better throwing a few
back while talking about our buddy Helen Zachary! JULES- So glad you made
it! Was a bit worried I'd have to cut Doug off if he tried to sing "Land of
Oz" without you there by my side! It's been a pleasure having you by my
side as the FRC of Lanta'!
SCOTT, BUBBA and all the "state" tag GOLF GUYS- You guys are too sweet!
Thanks for running w/ the big dawgs and making the weekend all the more
special! I still have the Krispy Kreme donuts you asked for, so I guess
this means we all gotta meet again soon! So, grab your designated Wingman
and let's go! DANAMETAGLADY- You and your tags are a legacy! MEREDITH-
Sorry I didn't get to chat w/ you more, I was dying from a migrain @ the
time so please accept my apology! I owe you an hour! PAM- You are the
ulitmate Melon Mom! BRENDO and your momma LYNN- Enjoyed chatting w/ you
guys on the back deck! I'm sure I forgot someone but not on purpose! Stay
in touch b/c as the saying goes we've made "Friendships that will last and

Thanks to Doug, Jimbo, Rob, Gary, and Chad for two incredible (and
completely different) shows this weekend! I'll miss you guys as soon as
the denial stage is over. It was great seeing new faces and familiar
names, too. I'm still a bit numb (uncomfortably) but I'm sure it'll get
better. My only regret is that we chose Comfort Inn over the Travel
Lodge! I'll miss the HPU conversations, the "hockey team from Detroit"
discussions, the promotions and demotions, and everything else! I, too,
want tickets to the reunion tour (season tickets?)! Thanks to everyone
who made it possible and thanks to eveyone who made it a weekend to keep
in memory forever--I still can't believe it's over. Oh, and Doug,
thanks for the mouth-full-of-snack version of Please Forgive Me...it was

Well, I traveled back to New Jersey and got a good night's sleep and have been thinking about the weekend...wow. It was everything I hoped it would be! At first I thought I was crazy for making the trip to Greenville, but now I KNOW it was the right thing to do--I would have been mad forever to not have been a part of this past weekend. It was great meeting a lot of the Melonpatch regulars, putting names with faces (thanks Rita-the nametags really helped!!) Kim and Jenn--it was an honor to finally meet you guys and you ROCK! I'll be in touch. Looking forward to stormin' New Hampshire! Amy--thanks for everything! You're the best road trip partner ever!! See you soon! Dave--well, you know...thanks for driving us around and everything else! Talk to you soon ;-) Head Melon, Keith and Scotty--great to meet you and thanks! Far Too Jones (Amy, I got it right!) and Rev D--two great bands that I will definitely keep my eyes (and ears) on! See you "up north" I hope!
Finally, Cravin' Melon--thanks so much for all of the great music and good times. Saturday's show was unbelievable--what a way to say "see ya"! Together and as individuals you'll always have a place in my heart (and thanks for the drumhead--Jon LOVED it! Picture to follow!) Take care, relax a little and keep in touch! I thought that the shows this weekend were awesome but felt that they were lacking by the teasing of the Great Horace Jones sidling up on stage and then just leaving so abruptly.
