It's with a heavy heart that i have to be the bearer of sad news for all you melonfans. For the past two years, the band has struggled to maintain our fan base and touring and recording profile. Without the support of a major label promotion and touring financial advantages, it has become a diminshing scenario for Cravin' Melon. Doug has decided that it's time to hang up the hat and pursue other things. That being said, the band has decided that without Doug, it just wouldn't be Cravin' Melon. Therefore we are annoucing the band's retirement effective Mid April. We are going to try to hit every market that we can between now and April 15, so keep and eye on the Dates Page of the website and come on out to bid the band farewell. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of our fans throughout the world, from the bottom of our hearts. It was you, the fans that kept us going over the years. We'd also like to thank Scotty and Keith, the the street team, and all of the family members that have supported us over the past 8 years. We had a good run at it, we made a lot of folks happy and we had some great shows along the way. We're sorry to see it come to a close, but that's where we are. Cravin's music has touched a lot of folks. Let's remember all the good times fondly, play the CDS and be thankful we had a chance to do this.

When I first moved from Buffalo to Hilton Head, I was way into the metal scene, not knowing, if you want to call it Southern Rock. Cravin' Melon was one of the first bands I heard and saw live. Instantly I was turned into a "Melonhead". I love the music from day one, very cool, very easy to listen and sing along to.I wish them the best, they are one of the reasons why I will always remember my Southern experience as a great one.

Just a heads up gang.

Someone that (at the very least) reads the board has landed a virus on their PC. Anyone that has posted here and left their email address has probably gotten several emails that are addressed from posters on this board. The email contains attachments that will attempt to install the virus on your PC as well.

Make sure your virus definition software is up-to-date, and don't open ANY attachments that are emailed to you unless you have been contacted by the sender before hand, and are expecting such an email.

(The virus in question scans your temporary internet files looking for email addresses in the form of name@place.com. When it sees the email address, it sends out an email to that address, using another address it found in the same document. Because of this email "spoofing" there is no real way to tell who is sending the email. The next time I get one, I'll check the header information to see if that can help us locate the infected individual.)

Thanks!

In ref to Gary on the Caroline Rhea show the other day, it's not that he was bored, he was just really tired that day. I was lucky enought to go to both the CR show and the Today show and chatting with Double G for a few hours. Hootie's schedual for the promotion of this new CD is CRAZY. So like I said, Gary was just tired, But I do like the new look!!!

Okay people! Do you really think that we would be doing a reunion show and not be making a big deal out of it? Come on! It's a Bankwalkers show. Cravin' Melon accoustic is used to get more name recognition, hence more tickets, hence more $$$. It will be myself, Jimbo, and Tim White playing (in an accoustic format) some Melon songs, some of Tim's songs, some of my new songs, and some covers. We have done this for the past two years; it is called a Bankwalkers show and often times they do bill it as CM accoustic just for the name recognition as I said earlier. There will be no Cravin' Melon reunion at anytime in the near future. And if there ever is, we certainly will let you know. Until then, check out the other stuff we are all doing now.

Cravin' Melon reunion?? I was checking Weekend Excursion tour dates and they have WE listed as playing with Cravin' Melon and Jupitor Coyote on March 15 at Bombers Stadium in Columbia. The show list states WE at 2pm, Cravin at 3:30pm, and JC at 5pm. I assume this is a mistake but just wanted to confirm.

Two things.

Sorry about the guestbook. Something happened that corrupted the old one, and we had to restore to our most recent backup.

Show your support for Hootie. Go buy the new album TODAY. I got mine at lunch, and it was totally worth the $11.99 Best Buy charged me.

Put away KAZAA and start supporting the bands again.

I have know that Cravin Melon was retiring for a while, just never really came across the site. I remember the first time I saw the guys in the Gville Memorial Auditorium with Dillon Fence and Hootie. It was a great concert. Now as a student at Clemson University, I remember the last time I saw them was on Bowmen Field. Oh and for the record, I know of at least 4 fans out of the southeast (3 in OH and one in NY). Peace, love and Melons.

Speaking of Double G, did everyone see him on Jay Leno tonight? Yep, he was there performing with Hootie. I almost did not recognize him with the long hair, but it was great to see him on national TV again. He was in his normal percussion position. They played a song from Hootie's new album which comes out tomorrow.

I play Sweat Tea during snowstorms too!

Just wanted to let everyone know that Cravin Melon's music is still being played. Last week I was up in the middle of the night and was watching the ABC News OverNight program around 4:00 AM. They went to a break and played Sweet Tea for about a minute as they showed clips of weather around the country, mainly snow in the midwest and northeast

Sorry, I'm a little out of the loop. Is Doug still with the Bankwalkers -- I heard it was just Jimbo & Tim. Just wondering? If Doug's not with them, what's he up to? With another band or flying solo doing something else? Also, I know JJ left & settled down a while back, but is he playing any?? Thanks.

It's been quite a while since I have done this, but I wanted to take a minute to tell everyone that whenever possible, you really should try to make it to the Harmony Grits Supper Club - Doug's new project at the Handlebar. It is great to hear some new music - not only from Doug, but from other very talented musicians - including Doug's family. One of my favorite things about it is that we do get some insight about the meanings behind the songs and why they were written. And Tim - I think that was the most I have ever you talk on stage - AND IT WAS WONDERFUL!! It is always refreshing to see any musician give us some personal insight. Keep up the good work guys! And to give Doug a little PR - the next show is Wednesday, November 13th. If you are in the area, please come out and give these guys your support. You will be glad you did.

I don't know if you don't really give a damn anymore, or if that is just as good as it gets. Me and the other 5 people in there thought it would never end--I just ended up leaving--and I had really looked forward to seing you guys as I never had before. The next move/cravin Melon stuff was great--and I remmeber watching you guys fondly during my time at Clemson. But like all good things in life, it has ended, the times are gone, and maybe it's just time to move on to something new.

I may be a little late, but speaking on the Cowboy Mouth question, Griff was absent from a show a month or so ago in Norfolk, VA and Hootie guitarist Mark Bryant filled in for him. HOWEVER, the band was quick to thank him for filling in and pointed out that Griff was only out for that show. So, no word on GG but I gathered that Hootie and Mouth are good friends and have a lot of mutual respect for each other and that could explain why GG would be at a HOB show of the Mouth's. One last note, I'm seeing Mouth in Charlotte this weekend so if I can gather any line-up news from that show I'll pass it along.

"the clear"Former "far too jones" front-man, Christopher Spruill, along with lead guitarist, Dave Dicke, and bassist, Alan Callahan, have been writing and rehearsing new material for the past few months, and will be entering a local studio to record some brand new material in October. A web site for the group is coming with all information for those curious, and free mp3 downloads of the new songs. For now, check out the new posting, and future link, at the old www.fartoojones.com site.Thank you again for all your past support with far too jones, and we hope you will be a part of this new endeavor."the clear" is coming.. We definately agree that Doug's new gig at The Handlebar was cool! He had several other songwriter/singers to introduce and each one of them sang two or three of their favorite sangs. We were running late, but got there in time to see Tim White sing...and it's good to see that he seems to have found his groove. Doug really did open himself to the small but supportive crowd...but he is soooo down to earth and humble that it's hard NOT to get caught up in his desire to get his Harmony Grits Supper Club up and going. It's an idea that will certainly give people a chance to get themselves and their music 'out there.' It was also fun to see Doug and his sisters harmonizing together and talking about how it was when they were growing up!:~) Thanks Doug, we had a GREAT time and we'll definately be back again soon!

Gary hasn't joined Cowboy Mouth. Although Fred did ask the Hootie guys to leave Darius and go on tour with them. However, the guys in Hootie & the Blowfish are friends with the guys in Cowboy Mouth, so you may see them at each other's shows.

Saw Jimbo and Tim play at Wild Wings here in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday nite. They were awesome! It was sad not to see Doug up there with them, but they still sounded as good as ever. The acoustic sound is new and alot different than the old Cravin' Melon, but entirely cool and the songs they sang were classic. Not Cravin' Melon songs, but a whole new sound. Very well done Jimbo and Tim. And I heard a rumor that Doug might be doing some different kinds of writing, other than just his music. Peace y'all

I just discovered a couple of your songs, first being sweet tea, and I can't believe you guys went undiscovered after listening to some more of your stuff. If there is anything I can say about you, it is that you guys have a very cool flavor to your music, and definitely have been shafted in not getting a major record deal. You should rethink your decision to give it up and begin touring again, as I believe this would bring out all of the people who are closet fans that are regretting not having supported you in the past. What do you have to lose by doing one more East Coast tour? At least I would be fortunate to go and bring 20 of my closest friends with me...hahaha!!All the best-Mark Pollio

Good luck, Doug! I'm so glad you're writing new stuff and getting on with what you want to do. I can't make the show on the 28th, but maybe some show soon. Quite a few of us seem to be going on the Rock Boat that week, is there another date you'd like to push for a strong showing? I'm sure more fans would try to make a date to see your show if they had time to make arrangements. (-* I've always ben partial to grits! *-) Cheers!

Hey, I was just going to let everyone know there are some new "Bankwalker" dates. I can not remember them right now but if you will go to www.timwhitemusic.com they are listed there. Also while you are there you really need to pick up the latest Bankwalkers cd. It is the last one with Doug and it has a very interesting version of "Sweet Tea". Doug, I hope to catch the "Harmony Grits Supper Club" soon, but living so far from Greenville it will be hard. I will be sure to send my family by to check it out, good luck!!

hello everyone, I just wanted to drop a note to say that it is nice to see that y'all are still keeping in touch with one another. I guess we were good for something after all. Anyhoo, for anyone who is interested, I am going to start playing every Wednesday night starting Aug 28th at "The Handlebar". I want to keep playing, but I don't want to travel and gig. So starting on the 28th, I will be hosting a singer/songwriter night beginning precisely at 8:30 pm. This is not Melon Time where they say we are going to start at 10 pm and we really don't start until midnight. I want this to be a show where people who have to work and even families can come enjoy some good acoustic pickin' and singin' at a reasonable hour. I'll play some songs I wrote, some songs my friends wrote, and some songs that I wish I had written. I think that it is time to start writing again, for me personally, and to introduce others to fellow songwriters I have met along the way. I am really looking forward to this; getting a chance to play on my own, sing with my sisters, and jam with my friends (you never know who may show up). So, remember "The Handlebar", August 28th, starting right at 8:30 pm, tickets only $2!!! Hope everyone is well, and I hope to see you there!Doug

I came away from the show thinking that those guys really deserve to be singing to much larger crowds. Hell, they are much better than say the goo goos.
